Japanese entertainment portal Real Sound published an article on YGE’s presence in the Japanese concert scene and YGE artists’ skill in attracting concertgoers. They revealed that YGE has managed to gather over 2 million concert attendees in 2017 thanks to BIGBANG and iKON. We are extremely proud of iKON and their continuous progress as they have jumped from 341,000 attendees in 2016 to 463,000 in 2017. With BIGBANG enlisting in 2018, the bulk of concert burden will fall on iKON and we certainty hope their company will provide them with the support they rightfully deserve.

YG Entertainment artists, more than 2 million concert attendees; the secret to BIGBANG, iKON, etc. ability to attract fans
By Mori Tomoyuki
In Nikkei Entertainment!’s December issue, they released their 2017 Concert Attendee Ranking. Four artists from BIGBANG’s company, YG Entertainment, were in the top 50. With BIGBANG (2nd/1.022 million people/20 shows), iKON (12th/463,000 people/33 shows), D-LITE (30th/273,000 people/43 shows), G-DRAGON (34th/259,000 people/5 shows), YG Entertainment was able to surpass 2 million attendees altogether. On the same chart last year, BIGBANG was first (1.859 million people/60 shows) and iKON was 20th (341,000 people/30 shows), but that number held firm in 2017 as well. The popularity of YG Entertainment artists isn’t a one-time fad; it could be said that their popularity completely permeates the industry even now.
iKON had their first Japan dome tour, iKON JAPAN DOME TOUR 2017 in September. A foreign (relative to Japan) artist having a dome tour in Japan 1 year and 9 months after debut is the fastest in history. With their trendy hip hop and electro sound, colorful fashion sense, and perfect fusion of each member’s skills on stage, there is no doubt that they can be called the first batters post-BIGBANG.
YG Entertainment artists have cutting edge hip hop, electro, and bass music that meet global standards, vivid and catchy fashion, and also high vocal and dance skills. It is possible that their ability to draw in fans in 2018 and beyond will get even higher.
Over the last weekend iKON once again thrilled an Arena full of fans with a setlist of old favorites and some new Christmas performances during their two day iKON Xmas Live Concert.
If you are a fan of iKON you probably know what a treat their live performances are. The boys have perfected having contagious fun with engaging interludes on stage and their sheer kinetic energy is something that fan accounts have said is one of a kind and a must to experience.
A new live performance is always cause for excitement and fans who looked forward to the Christmas Show were not disappointed. The special element of this Show was no doubt the wholly Vocal Line Stages which were the first of their kind for iKON Concerts.
On a beautiful 360 degree Centre stage that lit up, lifted and dipped along to the music, iKON performed many of their original hits with a fresh feeling that made one realize why they are favorites.
Bobby was also able to perform a solo stage of “Swim”, a track from his debut album. The big surprise was when he performed another track, “Secret” along with fellow iKON member Donghyuk and KPop Star 4 winner and label mate trainee Katie Kim!
Katie Kim also joined iKON’s Vocal Line for a soulful rendition of the seasonal classic ‘White Christmas.’
Many Japanese News Portals covered the Show and were full of praise for iKON’s continued and consistent Showmanship.
iKON reportedly drew an audience of 30000 over the two days of their Concert to the venue that not long ago hosted the Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) – a feat to be proud of for a merely two year old Korean group!
YGE has announced that iKON whose first Variety Show, JTBC’s iKON Picnic aka Idol School Trip just aired its final episode, will be coming back with an album in January 2018.
We all certainly hope so.

iKON’s Kim Bobby thrilled fans with the first live performances of tracks from his hotly anticipated debut album, Love and Fall as part of promotions for the album’s Japan release.
Though the album was originally released in South Korea on September 14th 2017 it took till November 29th for fans to be able to see more than a single promotional stage for the album’s title tracks due to YGE choosing to skip a promotional cycle for the album which was released while iKON was still actually on an extended Dome Tour in Japan.
Bobby’s live performance of tracks from Love and Fall were broadcasted on the popular Japanese video site/web channel Nico Nico.
The live included interactions with an MC during which Bobby answered questions about the album, played games, thanked fans for coming and mysteriously asked them to anticipate iKON’s next activity.

Bobby’s stage itself was very simple featuring just the artist and a mic yet the atmosphere was full of Bobby’s excitement for a live performance and the intensity of his passion for music.

His set list included:
I love you,
Love and Fall was a surprising album for even the oldest and staunchest Bobby fans/iKONICs not just because after 3 years of waiting people had given up hope it would ever be released – but because the idol who was most famous as the young power rapper who won SMTM3 took a risk and did what no one expected by releasing a personal and heartfelt and mostly vocalist album!
Bobby sang his heart out and touched fans with the beauty and sincerity of his lyrics and the heart they revealed.
This made getting to see him perform tracks from this album even more special for fans and Bobby did not disappoint with his electric performance.
See below for the entire Nico Nico Live stage.
Bobby also performed tracks from his album today at the Nike Force Battle Event marking the first time some of these tracks have been performed live in South Korea!
It’s truly good time to be a Love and Fall fan.
Today, iKONICs were grateful towards iKON’s team of security and staff who showed attentive support to iKON’s leader Kim Hanbin at Gimpo Airport when he appeared exceptionally drowsy.

The young leader, who along with iKON Members and staff is en route to Japan today, caused a small stir when he literally seemed to sleep-walk through the airport assisted at different points by Security, a manager and fellow iKON member, Kim Donghyuk.

Fans didn’t know wether to be charmed or concerned for the sleepy leader as Hanbin is known for his intense, nocturnal work habits. No doubt he must have been very tired indeed.
Fans were later reassured when pictures surfaced showing he was able to wake up a little more after a while.

On arriving in Japan he was even able to make a cute selfie at immigration further reassuring fans about his current wellbeing.
Despite the leader’s clear fatigue fans also noted something particularly special about his appearance. Apparently Kim Hanbin was dressed from head to toes in fan gifts!
iKON members have always been very fond of wearing fan gifts and for a while have used it to turn their Airport appearances into one more way of communicating with their fans!
iKON are currently on their way to Japan for three Concerts in Chiba scheduled as part of their Encore Dome Tour, two to occur on Saturday.
iKON’s Bobby traveled ahead some days ago for unconfirmed schedules and is not with the group today.
In other words; as usual the boys are hectically busy!
We are thankful once again to the fan sites who also woke up early to bring us these pictures and Kony’s Island wishes iKON good health and good shows and of course hope that Kim Hanbin will find some time in their intense schedule for a good night or day’s rest!
*EDIT: actually these events occurred at about 7pm not 7am so we have adjusted our remarks. As we have no confirmation as to why Hanbin was so sleepy we continue to hope he gets adequate rest and wish him and his members and staff good health for their tough schedules.
iKON’s official Instagram account withikonic posted a heartwarming photo of the boys having dinner with Big Bang’s Kang Daesung after they all performed today at Japan’s A-Nation festival.
Both Daesung and iKON are known for being extremely successful in Japan which was just emphasized by their marvelous performances in one of the biggest summer festivals in Japan.
This is not the first time Daesung and iKON have shared a stage as June, Jinhwan and Donghyunk went as audience support for Deasung on an episode of Fantastic Duo 2, for which the famous BigBang crooner ended up being the overall winner.

In fact, Daesung has been known before now to habitually look out for his dongsaengs, iKON.
And iKON boys have been declaring their love for this caring hyung on various broadcasts.
iKONICS all over are just happy that our boys have a chance to spend time with one of the nicest men in K-POP.
iKON performed live today at Japan’s Annual prestigious A-Nation Festival, the Crown Jewel of J-Pop Summer Festivals, for the 2nd time in their less than 2 year career and iKONICs proved that Konfire (the ocean of the Konbat light stick) can burn as brightly as the sun!
The Concert took place at Japan’s Ajinomoto Stadium in Chofu, Tokyo, an almost 50,000 capacity venue and was well attended by happy festival fans.
Japanese iKONICs came in numbers – men, women, youth and children – and after buying out three stalls worth of merchandise they coloured the stadium fire red with a passion that Yunhyeong would have been proud of!
iKON’s set came up at about 5pm and many non fans were shocked at the amount of support they recieved. It was still daylight but the stadium suddenly began to blaze with Konfire and the fan chants rose!
iKON put on an energetic set including in order:
Rhythm Ta (Rock ver.)
Dumb & Dumber
Despite two members literally flying in from overseas schedules, iKON performed as strongly as ever and entertained with their signature wild Ad-libs and infectious energy.
They were also able to communicate well with the audience in fluent Japanese during their Ments! It’s no wonder the boys even trended in Japan!
iKON’s Japan schedule will kick off officially in September with the start of their New Kids Japan Tour that includes 22 Concerts.
Meanwhile, their Mini Album continues to do very well, topping charts like Tower Records, Oricon and Billboard and proving iKON’s unrelenting popularity in Japan.

iKON have topped Japan’s Oricon Weekly Album’s Chart for the third consecutive time!
After proving their overwhelming international popularity by ranking #1 in Oricon charts first with their debut album “Welcome Back,” then with their consecutive Japanese release, the single album “DUMB&DUMBER,” – iKON hit no 1 again with their new mini album “New Kids: Begin” managing to officially establish a chart topping streak in the 2nd biggest music market in the world!
No wonder they were Japan’s 2016 Rookies of the Year!
The new mini album achieved first place in the weekly chart on August 22nd. Ever since its release on the 16th, the album has received plenty of love topping various charts and selling out of stores quickly.
After wrapping up their Korean promotions with double title-track “B-Day” and “Bling Bling”, iKON is set to continue touring in Japan with 22 concerts. Their Dome Tour is scheduled to begin in September.
Congratulations to iKON’s on their continuing amazing achievements!
