iKONICs uWu-meters went into overdrive today as iKON fully embraced their media derived title of “President of the Kids” and shared a warm and unforgettable afternoon with their youngest fans!
iKON’s mega-hit song Love Scenario which dropped earlier in the year with their 2nd album “Return” gained viral success and then caught even more attention with their unexpected and clearly overwhelming conquest of Korea’s youngest demographic. The phenomenon fascinated the Korean media especially after the song became so popular with kids it got banned in some elementary schools. They covered it in many programs, invited analysts to discuss it and even conducted a phone interview with iKON leader and song composer Kim Hanbin.
Hanbin stated on social media how he would’ve loved to hold a Kindergarten tour to thank the young fans for their love. It would seem that dream was later transformed into an event called “PiKONIC DAY” held for those young ones who love Love Scenario so much despite the fact that iKON is already on to their next promotions. PiKONIC Day is a special family day between iKON and iKONIC Families and the turn out was heart warming to see.
As updates flowed in from iKONICs at the event it was hard to tell who was more moved; was it the fans who flooded the #PiKONICDAY hashtag with hearts and crying emoji or iKON who stared at the families with softened eyes, invited kids onto the stage with them and hyped up their performances and kept leaving the stage to be with the children and families in the crowd.
Cr: Love Rain
Their was even some familiar faces from the internet among the crowd that attended.
The South Korean Media continues to closely follow the real life love scenario between iKON and their kid fans!
Follow the #PiKONICDay hashtag but do so at your own risk! Even the most hardened stan will eventually break and reach for a tissue!
iKON had their New Kids: Continue come back stage on Music Core today with intense ‘Killing Me’ and a rock happy ‘Freedom’ stages.
iKON just had their debut stages for this comeback on Music Core. They performed their heavily punkrock influenced sub title tract Freedom witch contained cute homages to dances from other YG groups. Can you spot those?
What followed is the awaited performance of iKON’s latest title track Killing Me. As always iKON vowed both fans and non fans alike with their amazing performance ability.
Day before highly anticipated iKON’s comeback YGE released stunning moving individual teasers of each member thus ramping up the excitement for tomorrow even more.
The Teaser that YGE Founder, Yang Hyun Suk touted as “too powerful” has finally arrived and – it appears he didn’t lie.
Hanbin’s unique tone, loaded with world weariness takes us through a heavy but addictive refrain as we see each of iKON’s members in various framed shots, all aesthetic, all equally moody. Just exactly right for a song called “Killing Me.”
It’s the perfect type of Teaser too. Not giving away too much, just enough to leave you thirsty for more, a complete turn around from Love Scenario’s interesting promo style and iKONICs LOVE it.
iKON is set to come back at 6pm on August the 2nd with Title track “Killing Me” and subtitle track “Freedom.” Until then I think we all know what to do with this Teaser!
For the New Kids Continue comeback at 6PM KST on August 2nd iKON will hold iKON Continue Countdown live on VLive starting at 5PM KST where iKONICS will have a chance to hear about the songs and get to see the “Killing Me” MV behind the scenes for the first time.
Don’t forget to turn in and wait for the comeback in the company of iKON and iKONICS!
The track list for the upcoming mini album New Kids: Continue was released. Album that is coming out on August 2nd will contain 5 songs including recently revealed fan song Just for You as part of iKON TV.
Besides title Killing Me and sub title Freedom we get to enjoy Only You, Cocktail and Just For You.
Their comeback will be followed by Continue tour that will start with concert in Seoul on August 18th.
Get ready iKONICS, August 2nd is just around the corner.
Yesterday, iKON TV season 1 (forgive the optimistic writer I am just putting this out there) ended with ep. 11 directed by iKON’s June.
To commemorate the ending of iKON TV members went on a bonding trip all dressed as June doing things June could never do due to his fear of water and high places, like race on water obstacles, ride on a super fast water float and even bungee jump. In the end June got to experience things through his fellow members and we got supremely entertained once again.
But in the end, what brought tears to eyes of a many iKONICs was not the ending of iKON TV but a beautiful gift of a fan song “Give it to you” composed by Hanbin and sang by all 7 members.
Here is the fan song subbed by KiST members so you can fully enjoy the touching, heartfelt lyrics.
Thank you iKON for giving us 11 Saturdays of fun and laughter!
